Clothing boutique provides essentials for Ohio foster families

Hope’s Closet, in West Chester Township, Ohio, provides clothing and other material needs, community, and loving support to foster children and the foster parents who care for them.

Their bright, inviting clothing boutique stocks high quality, new and gently used essentials for children in foster care. They work to provide a dignified and joyful shopping experience where children can choose clothes and personal items that give them comfort and confidence. Foster parents can also stock up on baby gear to prepare for an infant or toddler placement.

Visits to our boutique are up 11% over 2025 to 1,660 YTD. We have shared 20,000 outfits, 2,600 pairs of shoes, 2,000 coats and jackets, 3,000 packs of socks and underwear, 4,300 pairs of pajamas, and 1,000 baby and toddler care items.

In the spring, we conducted a survey of the foster parents who shop with us, and here is some of the feedback we received.

Survey highlights:

  • 99% of foster parents strongly agreed that Hope's Closet makes a positive and significant impact on their fostering journey and helps foster children feel a sense of dignity and normalcy.

  • “We love shopping days because our foster daughter immediately has to try on and model everything as soon as we get home! Lots of spinning in dresses and yelling ‘I love it! I look beautiful!’”

  • “I couldn’t foster without Hope’s Closet. My foster children light up when they know their shopping appointments are coming up. The worth and value that Hope’s Closet instills in our foster children is UNMATCHED!”

We are grateful to the Rota Foundation for the $2,500 grant to help support our mission!
